Ropemaking Workshop

  • A unique opportunity to discover how the flax plant is grown and used to make fibre, cordage, and rope and provides enough time to learn some of the skills involved.

  • Participants will learn how to use basic tools to process the flax plant, this involves learning how to release the fibre and tow; make cordage using the cordage spinner; make a length of rope on the medieval rope machine (ropewalk).

  • Participants will get to take home the fibre, cordage and the rope that has been extracted and made during the session.

  • We recommend that participants wear gardening type, warm clothes as all activities are outside.

Arrow Making Workshop

  • A opportunity to learn how to make your own arrows.

  • Participants will learn about the different parts of an arrow and find out how to use basic tools to create an arrow shaft, cut a knock and add fletchings with feathers.

  • Participants will be able to practice making arrows with a final one mounted on a backboard.

  • We recommend that participants wear gardening type, warm clothes as all activities are outside.

  • With the present situation of COVID-19, I can only accommodate up to 3 candidates per Workshop.

  • Before completing the Workshop Booking Form all candidates are required to read and understand the Risk Assessments for the Workshop. These will be issued with the link to the booking form.
